Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC recorded their first win of the season with a remarkable 2-1 win over Bechem United.

The defending champions recovered from an early setback thanks to goals from Jonathan Sowah and Ebenezer Nkrumah to win at Bechem.

Bismark Kobby Mensah’s side took a deserved lead through Cephas Mantey after 27 minutes.

The forward pounced on some slopping defending from a throw in to rifle him the opener.

Jolted into life by the goal, Medeama responded with direct attacks but their main threat, Jonathan Sowah found little joy against Bechem’s rear guard.

However, the Black Stars forward was rewarded when a tailor-measured pass from Aaron Essel found him in the box and he finished with some aplomb in the 75th minute.

Medeama completed the come back when Ebenezer Nkrumah expertly executed a free kick from 28 yards out.

Today’s win takes Medeama’s tally to 4 points from three matches with a game in hand.

Bechem United are now second from bottom with the same number of points but having played a game more.
