The Kwabre East Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jones Sarfo Anyamesem, has heaped praises on the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta and by extension, the government for presenting a budget of hope for the 2024 fiscal year.
Speaking on Kumasi-based Ultimate FM, monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Mr Anyamesem noted that the Finance Minister’s insistence that the economy has turned the corner must not be seen as mere words but as the true state of affairs.
“Let’s just be honest with ourselves, last year, how much was a ‘Kufuor’ gallon oil being sold for and how much is it today? It was being sold for GHc1400 plus, but today, it is going for Ghc400 “, he claimed.
“Now car assembly plants have gotten tax waivers, no tax on local prints, no tax on local pads, there is no tax on a number of items, clearly there will be room for the business to grow so they employ more people, that is instant job creations” he argued
“We should not joke with some of these things, it’s going to bring relief to all, no wonder this budget was named ‘Nkunim’. It is very good for us all and it has set the tone and foundation for us to break the 8”, he stressed
The Former Director of The Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) in the Kwabre District hit back at the NDC for referring to the budget as ‘bye-bye’.
“The NDC, don’t read. They have not gone through the budget, so they haven’t seen the benefits of the budget in the post-COVID era. The president said he knows how to bring back the economy and that is what he is doing, what is this noise about the bye-bye budget by the NDC? They don’t understand anything”, he added.
