Mortuary workers will commence their strike action on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, as proposed earlier as a meeting with the government to address their concerns ended in a deadlock, MyNewsGh.com reports.
Mortuary Workers Association in a statement issued on November 20, 2023, announced their decision to embark on a class action.
Several influential Ghanaians reacted to their statement and called on the government to ensure that their demands are met considering how important their work is and the adverse effect their strike will have on the country’s health system.
However, the Ministry of Health decided to engage them in order to stop the strike which is slated for November 29, 2023.
However, reports indicate that even though the Mortuary Workers Union availed themselves for the meeting, it ended inconclusively.
The Association has therefore decided to go ahead with their strike until their demands are met and working conditions improved.
