Manchester City striker Erling Braut Haaland is facing potential sanctions after his passionate protest against referee Simon Hooper in Sunday’s Premier League thriller against Tottenham Hotspurs.

The Norwegian charged at the referee for now allowing advantage play in favor of Manchester City, when Jack Grealish was through on goal and had a potential one versus one with the Tottenham goalkeeper.

With a minute and a half of stoppage time remaining, Haaland had his heels clipped by Emerson Royale, but maintained his composure to find Grealish with a lofted pass.

However, just when Grealish seemed through on goal, the referee Simon Hooper inexplicable called back play for a foul, after initially allowing play to continue.

Haaland and his teammates could not hide their frustration as they charged on the referee, demanding an explanation and to protest the decision.

But their protests fell on deaf ears as the referee stood his ground.

The match eventually ended 3-3 at the Etihad Stadium, much to the disappointment of Manchester City.

Haaland is expected to be formally charged on Monday, by the Football Association.
