Kofi Boachie-Ansah, a multi-disciplinary creative, has lambasted the alcohol advertisement ban on celebrities by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).

The popular audio engineer who is also known as Beatmenace has said that the alcohol advertisement ban on celebrities is discriminatory.

He questioned why a celebrity would be banned whilst those who are popular on TikTok with over 7 million followers are allowed to advertise alcohol on social media.

Talking to MyNewsGh.com correspondent at Cape Coast, he disclosed that the law by FDA amounts to human rights infringement on those affected.

“You’re saying that because Sarkodie is a celebrity by being a musician he should not be allowed to advertise for any alcoholic beverages.

“Meanwhile someone who has about 7 million followers on TikTok who has also assumed the status of a celebrity is doing alcohol adverts on social media.

“This amounts to discrimination which the constitution of Ghana is against the infringement on the human rights of every citizen”.
