The Premier League match between AFC Bournemouth and Luton Town has been stopped after Luton captain Tom Lockyer collapsed on the pitch.

Officials ordered both sets of players to leave the pitch midway through the second half as Lockyer received medical treatment.

Lockyer was eventually taken off on a stretcher, applauded by all four sides of the ground.

This is the second medical emergency the 29-year-old has had this year. He first collapsed during Luton’s play-off final win over Coventry in May before being taken to hospital.

Following a successful heart surgery, he was given the all-clear to return to playing in June.

Saturday’s game was suspended in the 65th minute with the score at 1-1.
