These individuals, who have been MPs for several years, have decided to step down to focus on other things and to also pave the way for other people.

But Ursula Owusu believes that their exit will be a big blow considering the experience they have amassed over the years and their contributions to the work of parliament.

“It’s painful that we are losing 18 parliamentarians on our side of the house. The other side of the house also lost some experienced people in the last election. I will plead with delegates to also take the experience into consideration when it comes to voting. They should not say that because the Member of Parliament has been in Parliament for a long time, they decide to boot him or her out because the person coming comes with no experience, and that will affect the work of Parliament. If they do not get people to coach them, then that affects the work that Parliament does.”
