Ghana coach Chris Hughton has clarified the injury situation of Black Stars midfielder Ashimeru Majeed.

The Anderlecht midfielder was forced off by a muscle injury in the second half of Ghana’s 2-2 draw with Egypt on Thursday.

Although Majeed played a limited part in the team’s recovery session in San Pedro on Friday, he has since participated fully in all other sessions.

Speaking ahead of Ghana’s final group B encounter versus Mozambique, Hughton hinted that the midfielder could start the match.

“We are still assessing him [Ashimeru], but the signs are good, he will train with the team, today [Sunday], but the signs are good that he will be fine,” he said.

“This was the situation in the game against Egypt where we had to bring him off.”

Ghana needs a high scoring win over Mozambique to stand a chance of qualifying as one of the four best third-placed teams in the group stage.

However, if Cape Verde beat Egypt in the other group match, a will be enough for Ghana to qualify in second place with four points.
