Ghana Premier League champions, Medeama SC have settled on the Cape Coast Stadium as their home venue for their CAF Champions League matches.

This follows an approval from CAF’s Club Licensing inspection team for the Cape Coast Stadium to host Champions League matches.

Medeama originally intended to use the T&A Stadium. However, delays in construction works mean the facility will not be ready in time for CAF’s inspection.

The $15million facility is now expected to be completed in March 2024.

The Mauves and Yellows have qualified to the group stage of the CAF Champions League for the first time in the club’s history after eliminating Remo Stars of Nigeria and AC Horoya of Guinea.

Medeama will now face record African champions Al Ahly, CR Belouizdad of Algeria and Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC in Group D.

Meanwhile, Medeama have returned from the United States where they played MLS side DC United in the Capital City Cup.

The exhibition match was part of the week long Ghana Week 2023 celebrations in Washington DC.
