On Christmas Day, she pushed through the barriers, sending her children to the fortified walls of Ussher Fort to connect with their father.
“In June 1972, Theresa had her last child, Victor Kofi Owusu Afriyie Mensah. She befriended wardens at Ussher Fort, who would occasionally visit for a meal and to collect her husband’s laundry. Despite the policy against children’s visits, Theresa disagreed. On Christmas Day, she took her children to Ussher Fort, determined to let them see their father.”
