The Ghana Government’s 1 Constituency 1 Ambulance at the Abuakwa North has been left to Rot at a mechanic shop over faulty injectors.

The ambulance has been reportedly parked at the Mechanic shop on cement blocks for the past 5 months due to the inability of the Ambulance Service to pay for the cost of the repair.

Checks by MyNewsGh.com indicates the cost of the repair is estimated at Ghs7000 with the Eastern Regional Ambulance Service informed.

The regional ambulance service says it has relayed the information to its National office waiting for instructions.

The Municipal Chief Executive Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga told reporters the Assembly would not be able to cover the Ghs7000 cost of the repair of the Ambulance due to budgetary constraints.

It will be recalled President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday, 28th January, 2019, commissioned and presented three hundred and seven (307) new, state-of-the-art ambulances to the National Ambulance Service, in fulfilment of his 2016 campaign pledge.

According to President Akufo-Addo, the 307 ambulances are “fitted with advanced life support equipment and tracking devices, to be distributed to 275 constituencies, i.e. 1-Constituency-1-Ambulance, to be managed by the National Ambulance Service, and the remainder of thirty-two (32) ambulances to the headquarters of the Service.”

Four Years on, Checks show less than 80% of the Ambulances are currently functional due to repair issues nationwide.
