Broadcaster Adakabre Frimpong Manso has aired the first three-and-half minutes of an audio recording of the late Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Labianca Company Limited, Eunice Jacqueline Buah Asomah-Hinneh.

In the audio, aired on the Wednesday, June 19, 2024, edition of his programme on Neat FM, the late businesswoman shared details of her journey to becoming a multimillionaire frozen foods importer from a humble beginning as a pure water seller at the Tema Harbour.

“I went to the harbour in 1978 as an iced water seller. In our time, there was nothing like ‘Slay Queen,’ so you had to work hard. I am the type that likes living; I was born with it, so I tried to work in order to cater to my lifestyle.

“After completing my education, I went to the harbour and served traders coming from Kumasi, Dunkwa, Nkawkaw, and others. I was named ‘Small Girl’ due to my size,” she stated.

She noted that at the time, only the State Fisheries Company and Mankoadze Fisheries Limited were importing frozen foods into the country.

Through diligence, Madam Asomah-Hinneh said she learned a lot about the business and later had the opportunity to travel abroad, where she built contacts.

“I didn’t stay long; I returned to continue working at the harbour. I didn’t come to hurt anyone. I traveled with the objective of searching for suppliers, so when I returned, I knew what I was coming to do — I met fish suppliers and chicken suppliers,” she stated.

She revealed that her journey into entrepreneurship brought her challenges in the form of instigated media attacks.

“I started experiencing troubles a little after I began working. The trials I went through were that I would get up one day, and I had been handed over to a newspaper to be dealt with. I went through tribulation for 13 years.

“Sometimes, I was compelled to ask myself whether I should stop the work or continue. But I also realized the business was booming because of the quality of products my suppliers were bringing me,” she stated before Adakabre ended the broadcast of the tape.

Last week, Adakabre announced that he would release portions of the said recording.

He stated that the audio is from an interview conducted with Eunice Buah in August 2023.

He recounted that on the day in question, he was at home when he received a call from Eunice Buah, who requested a meeting at her residence.

Adakabre complied with the late businesswoman’s request to arrive without his car.

Upon reaching Eunice Buah’s home, the Neat FM broadcaster claims he was escorted to her bedroom, where she confided in him and recounted various events for over an hour.

After the recording session, Adakabre asserts that Eunice Buah instructed him not to broadcast the tape but to retain it until after her passing.

Following the businesswoman’s death on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, Adakabre expressed his uncertainty about what to do with the audio he had safeguarded since then.
