Some members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have converged at the Cantoment Police Station in protest of the arrest and subsequent detention of their party’s Awutu Senya East Parliamentary candidate.
The members according to reports are burning tyres among others to protest the decision to detain their Parliamentary candidate at the Police station on a weekend amidst the singing and chanting of war songs.
Former President, John Dramani Mahama has condemned the Police for the decision to not allow justice to prevail in the matter.
He believes this is a move to intimidate the parliamentary candidate and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the run-up to the 2024 elections.
The NDC flagbearer has urged the Police to release Naa Koryor.

There is no justification for the decision by the Inspector General of Police George Dampare, on the orders of the National Security Advisor, Albert Kan Dapaah, to detain a Parliamentary Candidate for the Awutu Senya East Constituency in Police custody.
This action, taken on the instructions of the National Security Secretariat, will needlessly raise the political temperature in the country and spark avoidable tension.
