The 2023-24 Premier League season has been a kaleidoscope of shifting emotions for most sides, with the majority of supporters going through some kinds of highs and lows in the opening 12 weeks of the season.
It will come as no surprise that Manchester City and Arsenal fans have had the most to celebrate to this point, as they’re staying true to the Paddy Power football betting odds.
The Citizens remain the favourites to win the title despite sitting second to Arsenal, while Burnley’s loyal followers have had the least — as Vincent Kompany’s men are rock bottom.
The Premier League has just returned from the third international break of the season at the time of writing. However, when it returned, the sides who were on a bit of a run were hoping they could carry on their good form.
Manchester United
A lot of negative stuff has been said about Manchester United’s start to the season, and Erik ten Hag is one of the favourites to be the first Premier League manager to leave their post.
However, in terms of points picked up in the last six games, the Red Devils lead the way with 15 from a possible 18.
Man United have beaten Brentford (2-1), Sheffield United (2-1), Fulham (1-0), Luton Town (1-0) and Everton (3-0), while they suffered a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of local rivals Man City at Old Trafford.
Liverpool
Unbeaten in their last six, Liverpool are proving to be the title contenders many thought they would be before the start of the season.
The Reds are just two points behind Man City at the top of the table, but they could rue the dropped points against Brighton and Hove Albion (2-2) and Luton Town (1-1).
Jurgen Klopp’s men have beaten their Merseyside rivals Everton (2-0), Nottingham Forest (3-0) and Brentford (3-0) in their last six, while recently drawing 1-1 with Man City.
Man City
Man City could also regret dropping some crucial points as they have been relegated to second following two successive draws.
Pep Guardiola’s side — who are the favourites in the Champions League winner odds — lost 1-0 to Arsenal at the Emirates at the beginning of October, but went on to beat Brighton (2-1), Man United (3-0) and Bournemouth (6-1).
Chelsea ended the champions’ winning streak with a thrilling 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge, which will be hard to beat as the game of the season, while they followed that up with the aforementioned 1-1 draw with the Reds.
Arsenal
Mikel Arteta would have hoped that his side could kick on from that aforementioned win over Man City five games ago.
However, the Gunners haven’t been entirely flawless with three wins, a draw and a defeat in the five games that have followed.
Arsenal’s three wins came against Burnley (3-1), Sheffield United (5-0) and Brentford (1-), but they lost to Newcastle United (1-0) and were perhaps lucky to draw 2-2 with Chelsea.
Aston Villa
The improvement at Aston Villa since Unai Emery replaced Steven Gerrard has been astronomical, and the midlands outfit are currently challenging for the top four.
Villa drew 1-1 with local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers five games ago, but went on to beat West Ham United (4-1) and Luton Town (3-1).
They then lost 2-0 to another midlands foe Nottingham Forest. However, they bounced with a 3-1 win over Fulham and a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
Everton
Everton fans are returning from the international break feeling incredibly hard done by, as the FA deducted them 10 points for breaches of FFP.
That has resulted in the Toffees dropping down to 19th in the table, but their recent form suggests Sean Dyche’s men can get themselves out of this sticky situation.
The 10 points Everton had scratched were theoretically the points they picked up in their last five games, with wins over Crystal Palace, West Ham and Bournemouth, a draw against Brighton and a defeat to Liverpool.
Hopefully a 3-0 loss to Manchester United will not derail them further.
