Athletic Bilbao have refused to release striker Inaki Williams for Ghana’s pre-tournament camp ahead of the African Cup of Nations.
Williams was one of twenty seven players selected by Ghana coach Chris Hughton at Monday’s press conference.
In a statement released on Monday night, Bilbao said the Ghanaian will not be able to join Ghana’s camp due to stress.
”Athletic Club player Inaki Williams has been assessed by the red and white medical services earlier in the day at Lezama and is suffering from an illness which requires him rest. He has received treatment.”
”He will be assessed tomorrow so that he can travel and join the Ghana training camp as soon as possible. The medical services of the Ghanaian federation have been informed of the condition of the player.”
Williams has scored eight league goals for Athletic Bilbao in the ongoing 2023/24 La Liga season.
