Chairman of defunct Capital Bank Pastor Mensa Otabil is set to hold his annual CrossOver New Year Service as his bank CEO is transferred to Nsawam Medium Security holdings.
About three months ago, the former CEO of Capital bank Ato Essien was jailed for 15 years by the Accra High Court after he was convicted on the charges of stealing over GH¢90m belonging to the bank, through Capital Bank whose chair was Otabil.
Otabil was the board chairman of Capital Bank and calls had intensify for his prosecution too.
The collapse of Capital Bank was part of a larger banking crisis in Ghana that led to the collapse of several other banks.
According to Otabil, this Year’s CrossOver is scheduled to be held on December 31 at Christ Temple East in Teshie in Accra from 9pm to 1am.
“Iis a humbling realization for the whole church, especially for those who were there at the very beginning…. It is incredible to contemplate how far God has brought His church from those inauspicious beginnings. It is that awareness that informs our choice of God as the theme for the church”, the respected clergymen told Graphic.
“31st day of December may be just like any other day, but it is significant as an end as well as a new beginning of a year. It is therefore important to end the year with thanksgiving and reflection and to focus on the coming year.
It is unclear whether Otabil will dedicate special prayers and intercession for his incarcerated Chief Executive Officer Ato Essien who had his own cross over to Nsawam Prison.
