A former youth leader in the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) has pushed back any religious bigotry statements targeted at the image of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as ill-intended and must not be entertained.

The former Suame Youth Organizer of the NPP in Ashanti Region, Richard Agyemang, in a panel discussion on a Kumasi-based radio station, said anyone who intends to use uncouth words on the respected Vice President now flagbearer of the NPP, will not be spared as such a person is expected to receive a deserving response.

He notes that Dr. Bawumia has earned his reputation through hard work and his competence and not through religion and tribe as his opponents are seeking to suggest.

“Dr. Bawumia is the nightmare of the NDC; he gives them headaches all the time. They just want to use foul means to tarnish his image, but some of us will not permit that to happen. “

“The Vice President and now leader of our party thrives on his competence reason he is accepted in all quarters. He is not saying he wants to lead because he is Muslim or comes from the north, is all about his competence and his vision for the betterment of this country. “He argued.

Mr. Agyemang notes that any spin on why, he continues to say he has a vision for this country is only being misconstrued by persons who lack vision themselves.

“People ask, why is Dr. Bawumia, not actualizing his vision through Nana Addo. That cannot be possible,  Nana Addo is Nana Addo, and Bawumia is Bawumia. Even twins from the same womb will have different dreams and aspirations, and so is Bawumia. His vision will be different, and Ghanaians will give him the opportunity to show that in 2024′ he stressed.

There have been all kinds of attacks directed at Dr. Bawumia since he was elected flagbearer of the NPP as it is believed his abilities stand neck-to-neck and sometimes above the opposition NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama with a better appeal to the youth.
