Liberian Afrobeats artiste, JZyNo born Jonathan Lee Pratt has criticized the PlayGhana initiative which seeks to impress DJs to play more Ghanaian songs.

According to the Ghana-based musician, he doesn’t have any problems if the initiative’s motive is to give our industry-first preference and priority.

However, the ‘Butta My Bread’ hitmaker stated that it is envy and jealousy to call for a ban on foreign songs when Ghanaian artistes also want to go global.

In a post on social media monitored by MyNewsGh.com, he angrily wrote “Giving our industry first preference will help.

“But to ban foreign songs from playing in our country when we ourselves want our music to go global is envy and jealousy to me”.

Recently, Dancehall musician Samini has voiced his support for the Play Ghana initiative, describing it as long overdue.

He emphasized the necessity for a deliberate and strategic approach to promoting Ghanaian music on local platforms.
