There is Tension between some supporters of an aspirant and the Northern Regional Executive of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over the missing name of their preferred candidate in the Bimbilla constituency of the Northern region.

An aspirant one Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Zaruk name went missing from the list of aspirants to be interviewed in the upcoming NPP primaries even though he had filed his nomination earlier.

A statement signed by the Northern Regional Secretary of the NPP, Prof. Hudu Zakaria, indicated that the aspirant failed to sign his nomination forms hence his disqualification.

“Alhaji Ahmed Zaruk Nuhu’s refusal to sign the agreement, nor have it witnessed as required, is unfortunate for himself and the party. As a result, the party is unable to process his nomination form to the next stage, which is the vetting process.”

According to him, the New Patriotic Party(NPP) is committed to fairness and due process and Alhaji Ahmed Zaruk Nuhu has been invited to clarify his intentions regarding the contractual undertaking with the party on Thursday, the 4th of January 2024.

“This hearing is a critical step in maintaining the integrity and order of our party’s nomination process and ensuring that all aspirants adhere to the agreed-upon rules and regulations. The party takes this matter seriously and expects all aspirants to fulfil their obligations thoroughly and diligently”.

Supporters of Alhaji Ahmed Zaruk Nuhu, have displayed pictures of the filing forms the aspirant submitted to the regional office which was signed and debunked the claim that the form of their candidate was not complete.

The supporters have accused National and Regional executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of masterminding their aspirant’s name removal to ensure that incumbent MP, Dominic Nitiwul goes unopposed.

The NPP supporters threatened to vote skirt and blouse in the 2024 general election should the party impose a candidate on them.

This current tension in the NPP in the northern region has resulted in the vandalize ruin of the NPP office in the Bimbilla constituency.
