Political Science Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Dr Akwasi Amakye Boteng has asked the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to sack the Head coach of the Ghana Black Stars, Chris Hugton because he is not fit to the job.

The call from Dr Amakye Boateng comes after the Ghana Black Stars at their first group game lost 2 – 1 to Cape Verde. The defeat brought a lot of disappointment to many Ghanaians as they lost hope in the team.

However, speaking on the team’s abysmal performance on Angel FM in Kumasi, Dr Amakye Boateng insisted that the coach must be sacked because he is not fit for the job.  He also said the team cannot qualify for the next stage of the competition.

“They (Black Stars) will come home. They will not qualify for the next stage of the tournament, this is not a curse but they are not ready to participate in the AFCON. And even there they don’t use those who qualify to play. The coach must go”. Dr Akwasi Amakye Boateng said.

He also expressed his dissatisfaction about the Ghana Football Association’s decision to employ a British Coach for the team saying categorically that, British coaches are not good.

“In the first five teams of the English Premier League table, there is no British coach there. How come a league with a huge sum of money there does not have a British coach as their Head Coach? Does the GFA understand football? He quizzed.

“British coaches are not good. They don’t perform well. The British themselves know their coaches are not good”, Dr Amakye Boateng told Kwame Tanko.

Meanwhile, in their second group match of team ended 2-2 draw with the Pharos of Egypt.

Ghana Black Stars will play Mozambique in their next match which most sports pundits have described it as “very crucial”.
