Everton have announced the passing of its chairman Bill Kenwright, at the age of 78.
In a statement on its website, the club confirmed its long-term chairman, passed away on Monday evening.
“The club has lost a chairman, a leader, a friend, and an inspiration,” the statement added. “The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Everton are with his partner Jenny Seagrove, his daughter Lucy Kenwright, grandchildren and everybody who knew and loved him.”
Everton Football Club is in mourning following the death of Chairman Bill Kenwright CBE, who passed away peacefully last night aged 78, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Kenwright first bought majority share at Everton in 1999, ten years after being appointed onto the club’s board. He would go on to serve as chairman of the Toffees for nearly two decades.
