The Football Association in England has charged Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta for comments he made after their 1-0 defeat by Newcastle.

Arteta used the words “embarrassing” and a “disgrace” when describing the video assistant referee’s (VAR) decision to allow Newcastle’s goal.

The FA statement said: “Mikel Arteta has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3.1”.

“It happens following comments that he made in media interviews after Arsenal’s Premier League game against Newcastle United on Saturday 4 November”.

It is alleged that Arteta’s comments constitute misconduct as they are “insulting towards match officials.”

He has till November 21, 2023, to respond.
