Former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama says Ghanaians are now numb to corruption.

He says in the past when people heard of scandals they became very shocked but currently, the citizens seem to expect public officers to engage in corruption one way or the other.

“Today when there is a scandal people are like we are tired because they are all tired, everybody is tired. And so even in the twilight to exit office you still coming up with schemes to steal money.

This is at a time when we have the office of the special prosecutor suddenly say the special prosecutor should return all Cecilia Dapaah’s money to her. The explanation they give is that the Special Prosecutor cannot handle money laundering cases. So why did they establish the office of the special prosecutor?

The former President questioned the existence of the office of the special prosecutor indicating that it is clear the office was established to go after political opponents but unfortunately, the special prosecutor is investigating everybody.

According to the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) 2023, Ghana maintained its score of 43 for the fourth consecutive year the country ranked 70th out of 180 countries assessed in the CPI.
