Accra Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways with an emphatic 3-1 win over defending Medeama S.C in the Ghana Premier League on Wednesday.
The Phobians seemed to have been spurred on by recent criticisms and got the perfect start when Salifu Ibrahim’s well taken corner kick was turned in by Medeama goalkeeper Appiah Kubi for an own goal in the sixth minute.
It was no more than the Phobians deserved after some sustained early pressure.
Hearts seemed determined to to turn their season around and were dully rewarded for their persistence when Hamza Issah robbed Kofi Asmah off the ball on the counter break before firing home on the half turn in the 17th minute.

The defending champions quickly regrouped and got back into the game when Kamarudini’s found Godknows Dzakpasu who applied a brilliant header to half the deficit after 21 minutes.
The Phobians reasserted their dominance when they converted a three versus counter attack that ended with Hamza Issah’s second goal after Martin Karikari and Salifu Ibrahim had combined to set him up.
Today’s brace means the young forward has now scored three goals in four matches of his debut Premier League campaign.
The second half of the match was just as eventful but without any goals due to some poor finishing.
The worst culprits were, Michelle Sarpong who missed two glorious chances, and Albert Eonde.
Late in the match, Medeama striker Jonathan Sowah was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Hearts left back Denis Korsah.
The result means Hearts have moved to 15th on the log with 9 points from eight matches while Medeama remain in 11th place with 10 points. However, the defending champions have an outstanding match to play.
