CAF has appointed Moroccan referee Rédouane Jiyed to officiate the Champions League Matchday 4 tie between Young Africans and Ghana’s Medeama SC.
Rédouane Jiyed is all too familiar with Ghanaian football teams, having officiated Ghana’s 2022 World Cup play off tie against Nigeria in Kumasi in Kumasi.
Six months before that, Jiyed officiated Ghana’s 1-0 victory over Ethiopia in a group stage match of the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers.
The 43-year-old has a rich resume including appearances in CAF major competitions.
In 2021, Jiyed officiated three matches in the AFCON 2021, including the third place play-off match between Cameroun and Burkina Faso.
Last year, the Moroccan officiated nine matches in the CAF Champions League.
Jiyed first won his FIFA badge in 2009 and has since been officiating international matches for the past 14 years.
He will be assisted by compatriots Lahsen Azgaou (Assistant I), Mostafa Akarkad (Assistant II) and Karim Sabry (Fourth Official).
Meanwhile, South Sudan’s Makur Majok Mabil has been named as the Match Commissioner while Alberto Daniel Razafitsitamy from Madagascar works as Referee Assessor. Uganda’s Ali Mwebe is the General Coordinator with Siyabulela Andisiwe Gantsho from South Africa set for the role of Security Officer.
