Chris Hughton has apologized for Ghana’s 4-0 loss to the United States of America in an international friendly.
Ghana conceded four first half goals to the USA at GEODIS Park in a horror show on Tuesday.
A Gio Reyna brace, a Christian Pulisic penalty and a Folarin Balogun sublime finish gave the States the most famous victory against the Black Stars in Nashville, Tennessee.
Hughton said: “I’m very sorry, and I take responsibility for the poor performance against the USA. ”It is my responsibility to build this team and I have to work around some of the issues we have had regards injuries, trying to get consistency and we will continue to strive to get the right formula”.
However, Hughton is optimistic the Stars will be better for the experience.
”I have also been involved in the game long enough to know that sometimes, sometimes you go through what we regard as bad periods to come out better for it. Sometimes, sometimes, bad performances like today, can be something that can kick start something good for us or can be something that makes my mind up about a certain system, a way of playing.” he concluded.
Ghana will play Madagascar and Comoros in two FIFA World Cup qualifiers in November.
