Speaking to Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Accra-based Starr FM, Asenso Boakye said the votes polled by Ralph Agyapong shocked him because he did not expect him to poll those numbers.
He noted that after the elections, he got to realize the kind of people who were behind Ralph Agyapong and that made him understand how Ralph was able to poll those numbers indicating that “If it were just him, he would not be able to poll those numbers”.
“I thought I was going to improve on the 78% I had during the 2020 elections because that was the time that contesting with the late Okyem Aboagye. I was fresh, and I had no record but when I was given the opportunity to serve, I brought many development projects, which a lot of people thought were unprecedented. In terms of my community engagements, community mobilization, it’s never happened before. Eventhough the was an MP for Bantama and was appointed a Minister which meant I had bigger responsibility but that not withstanding I still had time to visit my constituency. I am almost always in Kumasi every weekend visiting my constituents and party people. I knew I had done a lot of work and I hoped I could poll much bigger percentage but it didn’t happen,” he indicated to Bola Ray on Accra-based Starr FM.
