I won't go there—Maurice Ampaw responds to Manhyia summons

Lawyer Maurice Ampaw says he does not know what he will be going to the Manhyia Palace to do.

According to him, the Ashanti Chiefs have been prejudicial on the issue, and therefore he does not see the essence of going on Monday when the Chiefs have summoned him.

To him, they should have exercised some form of wisdom by not being judgemental when the executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) visited the palace to plead on behalf of Chairman Wontumi.

He said while speaking on Accra-based Kasapa FM “If you say traditionally I’ve disrespected you, then as a Lawyer of repute and Integrity how can a Chief call me a gutter Lawyer? All they said was on social media, and all the presenters were insulting me without listening to my side of the story.

What am I going to do there? What am I going to do there on Monday? They have already judged me without listening to me so when I go there they are just going to embarrass me and kill me. I am sad Otumfuo is out of town and his chiefs are doing this. The Constitution of Ghana is bigger than everybody and even Otumfuo is subject to the constitution,” he said.

Lawyer Maurice Ampaw was summoned by the Kumasi Traditional Council to appear before it on Monday, January 29, 2024.

He is said to have rained insults on the Chiefs on Wontumi Radio after the Chiefs summoned Chairman Wontumi for insubordination.
