Senegal captain Sadio Mane has admitted group C opponents Cameroun will present their toughest challenge in the first round of next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Defending champions Senegal have been drawn against five time AFCON winners Cameroun, Guinea and The Gambia.
Thursday draw produced some interesting pairings
Mane, who traces his ancestry to both Gambia and Guinea, said Cameroun would present their toughest test.
”I think its a really difficult group. Really complicated for me because I am half Guinean and half Gambian. So its not going to be easy for me,” he said.
”Cameroun are a strong team and we respect them a lot. They have great players, a great team and are always a threat at the AFCON.” he concluded.
Senegal will begin their title defense against the Gambia, before playing Cameroun and Guinea in their second and third group games respectively.
The Africa Cup of Nations will be played from January 14 to February 11, 2024.
