CAF to embark on 5-day inspection of AFCON facilities in Ivory Coast



The Confederation of African Football has announced a five-day inspection of host facilities for the Ivory Coast 2024 tournament.

A joint delegation from CAF and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC)will visit the four host cities: San Pedro, Korhogo, Bouake and Yamoussoukro.

A CAF statement said: ”The five-day mission scheduled for 16 – 20 October 2023, will afford the delegation a first-hand experience on the state of readiness of the four cities of the areas on Sporting Infrastructure (Stadia, Training sites), Accommodation (Hotel) amongst others for the tournament.”

Sources say although Ivory Coast are in no danger of losing the hosting rights, CAF and the LOC need the facilities to meet specifications for marketing and promotion purposes.

The inspections come in the wake of the successful draw held on 12 October 2023 at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Abidjan.

Ivory Coast will host the Africa Cup of Nations from 13 January to 11 February 2024 in Abidjan, San Pedro, Korhogo, Bouake and Yamoussoukro.
