Five players from the Ghana Premier League have reportedly been named in Cjris Hughton’s provisional AFCON 2023 squad.

Sources say the Ghana Football Association presented a 50-man list to the Confederation of African Football.

Five of them; midfielder Salifu Ibrahim of Accra Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko playmaker Richmond Lamptey, Medeama S.C trio of striker Jonathan Sowah, left back Fataw Abdul Hamidu and goalkeeper Felix Kyei, were all named in the squad.

All national teams can submit provisional squads to the tournament organizers CAF, but are obliged to submit a final squad by January 3, 2023.

Ghana has been drawn in Group B alongside Cape Verde, Egypt and Mozambique.

The Black Stars will be based in Abidjan where they will play most of their games at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium.

The tournament will start on 13th January 2024 and will end on 11th February 2024.
