Tyrone Iras Marhguy, a Rastafarian student, who, in 2021, was denied admission by the Achimota School for wearing his dreadlocks and not heeding to the school’s order that he cut the dreadlocks, has come out with flying colours in the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Master Marhguy scored an A1, the highest grade possible, in all eight subjects he studied as a General Science student of the school.

Achimota School had rejected him, but a court in May 2021 ordered the school to admit him after much hearing on the matter.

While Marhguy has been receiving much praise from Ghanaians on social media, Achimota is at the receiving end of criticism, even after about three years since the incident happened.
