Nottingham Forrest have parted ways with head coach Steve Cooper with Nuno Espirito Santo in advanced talks to replace him.

Cooper has been sacked after six consecutive league games without a win and just one victory in their last 13.

Forrest, who are currently 17th in the Premier League, have also won just one of their last 13 Premier League games.

The East Midlands outfit have just 14 points in 17 league games and despite a bright start to the season.

Although the club hierarchy retained optimism despite the poor results, things got out of hand in the past month.

Two weeks ago, Forrest suffered a humiliating 5-0 loss to Fulham two weeks ago. The defeat was their fourth loss in a row after defeats to Everton, Fulham and West hamm.

A draw at the Molineux against Wolves proved to be nothing more than a brief respite.

However, after a 2-0 home loss to Tottenham on Friday that left Forrest in 17th place, just five points clear of the relegation zone, owner Evangelos Marinakis decided to pull the trigger.

The Greek shipping magnate has not been impressed with the 44-year-old’s management and the lack of progress.

Sources say he expected more consistency from the team after investing close to £300million in the last three transfer windows.

The Welshman is expected to be followed by his entire back room staff and other support staff hired at his recommendation.
