The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, says it is not his job to clear or prosecute any public officer of wrongdoing.

According to him, he has noticed that there is an effort to label him a clearing agent.

But that is not his job, but rather the job of the court and the law enforcement agencies in the country.

He indicated that his job is to act on allegations of corruption by referring the issue to the proper investigative agencies for the relevant inquiry or action, including, if necessary the suspension of the affected official.

The president said he has done his job as stipulated by the constitution in the fight against corruption.

“My job is to act on allegations of corruption by referring the issue or issues to the proper investigative bodies for the relevant inquiry and action, including, if necessary, suspension of the affected official pending the conclusion of the investigation That is exactly what has been done since assuming the mantle of leadership on January 7, 2017,” he said.
