Sophia Lacayo Arrested And Charge
Former Sweetwater commissioner Sophia Lacayo, aged 45, was arrested on Tuesday, facing charges related to campaign finance violations.
The State Attorney’s Office Task Force conducted an investigation that led to the arrest.
According to the Miami Herald, a partner of CBS News Miami, the allegations are related to suspected violations of campaign funding regulations.
Apart from the latest accusations, Lacayo has had legal issues.
She was accused of breaking the City Charter’s residency requirement for holding office, which led to her being charged with perjury in 2020.
