Copyrights Expert and advocate, Kofi Boachie-Ansah has said it’s a shame a Chinese has patent rights to Ghana’s Kente designs.

The creative artist who is also a founding member of the Audio Engineers and Producers Association of Ghana made these remarks during a one-day workshop on copyrights.

“Now look at the seats we’re sitting on in this beautiful auditorium and guess what, do you know who owns the rights to these Kente designs covering the seats?

He said monitored by MyNewsGh.com “It’s a shame that after producing these Kente designs in Ghana for so many years we were not able to register the patent rights to our name.

“It has now been registered by a Chinese that he owns the patent rights to these Ghanaian Kente designs and we’re now taking steps as a country to correct that”.

The event organized at Alliance Française in Cape Coast by Creation Africa Ghana is a project from the French Embassy which aims to empower entrepreneurs in cultural and creative industries.
