Adansi-Asokwa Member of Parliament (MP), Kobina Tahir Hammond, widely known as K.T. Hammond, has boldly declared that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is on track to maintain its hold on power in the anticipated 2024 elections.

Following the budget reading on November 15, 2023, Hammond spoke to the media, emphasizing the party’s unwavering determination to secure an unprecedented third consecutive term in office. The goal is to perpetuate the developmental initiatives initiated under the stewardship of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

In response to what he perceived as dismissive gestures from the minority during Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s budget reading, Hammond did not mince words, criticizing their attitude and branding them as “jokers.”

“These guys are jokers; they were waving goodbye to us. We are ‘Breaking the Eight,’ and we are coming back under Mahamudu Bawumia. The next administration in 2025, NPP will be sitting at that same side that you saw us today,” asserted Hammond confidently.

Highlighting ongoing development projects and achievements, Hammond expressed his confidence in the NPP’s ability to reclaim power. “There is 1D1F, all the cars that we are manufacturing, there is an industrial transformation that is taking place, the agric front, the exchange rate will be stabilized,” he added.

The NPP, having secured the presidency in 2016 and retained it in 2020, is resolute in defying the conventional eight-year cycle of power-changing hands. The party is strategically positioning itself to clinch victory in the upcoming 2024 elections.

On the opposing front, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is gearing up for a resurgence. Having lost power to the NPP in the previous election, the party is pinning its hopes on the leadership of former President John Mahama to spearhead a triumphant comeback.
