The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Youth Authority, Pius Henam Hadzide has disclosed that the newly refurbished Koforidua Youth Resource Center will be managed by a third party.
This, according to the former deputy sports minister, is to ensure the facility’s sustainability.
The 5,000 capacity multipurpose sports center which was commissioned by President Akufo Addo on Wednesday is part of ten youth resource center’s being built across the country under the current government.
The edifice comprises a FIFA-standard football pitch, a nine-lane athletic track, and versatile courts for tennis, basketball, handball, and volleyball.
Many have raised doubts about the competence of the National Sports Authority, the managers of sports facilities in the country amidst the recent deterioration of national stadia including Accra Sports Stadium but Pius revealed that NYA will adopt a new strategy to maintain the facility.
To ensure sustainability, National Youth Authority has decided to leverage a third-party facility managers to manage and oversee the regular and proper maintenance and usage of the facility.” – Pius said at the commission.
