Asante Kotoko emerged 1-0 winners in Monday’s nights Ghana Premier League contest with Berekum Chelsea.
A first half strike by Steve Mukwala was enough to secure maximum points for the record winners of the competition, against the former champions.
The Ugandan benefited from a beautiful team effort to smash home the match winner. Richmond Lamptey started the build up from midfield with a through ball to Isaac Oppong before Dese Mukwala fired home.
Substitute Patrick Ansu missed a good chance to level matters in the 85th minute but the former Medeama SC forward fluffed the chance as Asante Kotoko held on for the three points.
In the other game, Kwabena Boateng and Joseph Mireku got on target for Legon Cities in their 2-0 win over Accra Great Olympics.
Kwabena Boateng opened the scoring inside 56 minutes before Joseph Mireku wrapped up the win in the 96th minute.
Both sides ended the game with red cards after Christopher Nakai Nettey and Michael Yeboah of Great Olympics were shown the exit, while Legon Cities finished with ten men after Joseph Amoah was sent off.
