Fast-rising Ghanaian rapper King Paluta has said it is time organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) consider crowning Kumasi-based musicians and give them the awards they deserve.
According to the “Yahitte” and “Sika Aba Fie” hitmaker, the organizers of various awards schemes including VGMA have neglected Kumasi-based musicians for a long hence it is time they treat them equally and fairly.
Expressing his displeasure about how some Ghanaians disregard musicians based in Kumasi on TV XYZ in an interview monitored by MyNewsGH.com stated, “When an Accra-based artiste come here, they are referred as Ghanaian artiste but when Kumasi based artistes come you call them Oseikrom artistes. What is that? It is very bad”.
“So you need to award us with the VGMA and other awards. Because we are also working hard”, he added.
King Paluta further argued that with the hard work most of these Kumasi artistes put into their works, it is most likely they can perform better than the so-called Accra-based musicians if equal opportunity is given to all.
“Kumasi artistes work harder than most of the Accra-based artistes”, he noted.
“If the industry treats all of us equally, some of us (Kumasi artistes) can be the ones to fill the O2 arena”, King Paluta asserted.
