Outspoken Socialite Afia Schwarzenegger has alleged that as much as Ghs1million was given to some key Chiefs of the Kumasi Traditional Council ahead of a hearing involving Chairman Wontumi, the ruling party’s Ashanti Regional Chair.

The KTC on Monday presided over by the Bantamahene, Baaffour Owusu Amankwatiah VI exonerated the Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as ‘Chairman Wontumi,’ over allegations that he has disrespected the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

He was alleged to have made some disparaging remarks against the Asantehene during a vetting exercise of parliamentary aspirants of the party at the Manhyia South Constituency.

Chairman Wontumi was placed on Manhyia’s “wanted list” as a result of the incident and was summoned to appear before the council.

Wontumi was accompanied by party figures, including Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, Chieftaincy Minister, Asamoah Boateng, Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, National Chairman of the party, Stephen Ntim, the General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, National Treasurer, Dr. Charles Dwamena, and various other NPP regional executives.

In a surprising twist, the KTC rather rebuked the Kokosohene, Nana Kwaku Duah, for dragging the name of Manhyia into dispute through his partisan politics rather than punish Wontumi as many suspected.

The council said the impasse between Kokosohene and Chairman Wontumi was purely a partisan issue and should not have been brought before the council for adjudication.

Reacting to this, Afia Schwarzenegger alleged that some moneys exchanged hands between some chiefs and politicians ahead of the hearing evidence of which she claims to have.

According to her, she is willing to give all the evidence she has to Ghanaian-US vlogger, Kevin Taylor to publish.

“Before the meeting the Chiefs received some money for themselves. Me I am not afraid of anybody. Some of them received GHS1million each before they came to adjudicate the matter”, she claimed.

When Chairman Wontumi was called before the council, he denied disrespecting the golden stool and explained what he said that “NPP is his Kingdom in Ashanti Region and that at that vetting, the issues at stake were purely party issues.”

Chairman Wontumi said while on his way to attend a business meeting, he had a call from the party’s General Secretary wanting to know what really took place.
