Embattled Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu who has come under attack over his argument on the proposed 24-hour economy, insists he still stands by his claims that the 24-hour economy proposed by John Dramani Mahama will affect marriages.

According to him, he has heard calls for him to resign but he will not resign because he believes what he said is right and he will continue to defend it wherever he finds himself.

Stephen Yakubu was speaking to the media in the Upper East Region when he made this known.

“Somebody said sack the Minister because even this thing that we are talking about we can do it during the day. Eii papa, they are bringing something very different here. We have always been sleeping with our wives in the night not during the day.

I grew up here, I’m a local boy. During the day your children are going to school so what if they forget a book at home and they want to come back for the book he will come and you are on top of the mother, he will say you’re killing the mother. So these things are very serious matters we need to talk about. So we are telling our fathers and mothers that they should not allow anybody to come and destroy the things that we’ve always been enjoying,” he said.
