Minnesota Timberwolves were made to work for a 106-103 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in an NBA in-season tournament matchup Tuesday night in Minneapolis.
Anthony Edwards scored 21 points for the hosts but was forced off in the second half after sustaining a hip injury, while Rudy Gobert finished with 17 points and 16 rebounds for the Timberwolves.
Edwards could not continue after landing hard on his right hip in the third quarter after he attempted a dunk. However, he was unsuccessful as he collided with Thunder forward Jaylin Williams in a clash that sent him to the paint.
Tonight’s victory was the 13th in 17 games in what has been a remarkable start to the season. The Timberwolves have also managed to go 3-1 in Group C of the in-season tournament but failed to advance.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was the night’s highest scorer for Oklahoma City with 32 points. The defeat means they are now 1-3 behind in the tourney after already having been eliminated from advancing.
