The Governing Council of the CK Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Navrongo, has appointed Professor Samson Abah Abagale and Mr Gilbert Ansoglenang as acting Vice Chancellor and acting Registrar of the University respectively just a day after the Bolgatanga High Court issued a perpetual injunction against Professor Eric Magnus Wilmot and Dr Vincent Ankamah-Lomotey from holding themselves as Vice Chancellor and Registrar of the University respectively.

In a circular addressed to students and staff of the University dated November 28, 2023 and signed by the Chairman of the Governing Council of the University, Prof Gordon A.  Awandare, the council announced that the acting Vice Chancellor and Registrar were appointed during an Emergency Meeting of the Council to deliberate on the ruling of the High Court and comply with the Court’s orders.

“Following the Bolgatanga High Court judgement on Monday, November 27, 2023, relieving the Vice Chancellor and Registrar from their posts, the Governing Council at an Emergency Meeting today, November 28, 2023, deliberated over the consequential orders issued by the High Court for the compliance of the University. At the end of its deliberations, Council appointed the Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Samson Abah Abagale as Acting Vice-Chancellor and the Deputy Registrar Mr Gilbert Ansoglenang as Acting Registrar with effect from November 28, 2023,” the circular said.

The council then added that it has taken steps to appoint a substantive Vice  Chancellor and Registrar for the University in fulfilment of the Court’s orders, urging its staff to cooperate with the new Officers.

A private citizen and resident of Navrongo Joseph Weguri had prayed the Court to declare the appointment of Prof Wilmot and Dr Ankamah-Lomotey as null and void due to the fact that they had reached the age of retirement before they were appointed. The Court granted his plea and relieved the officers of their positions.
