Executive board chairman of Hearts of Oak, Togbui Afede XIV has bemoaned the teams poor start to the Ghana Premier League season.
The Phobians have won one in four matches in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season under new coach Martinus Koopman.
Speaking at today’s Annual General Meeting, the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State and President of Asogli Traditional Area is Togbe Afede XIV did not hide his disappointment with the team.
”Unfortunately, performances have not reflected the investments we have made. We have made significant investments in very difficult financial times. If you look at the squad, we have quality all round. We have invested in quality center backs, and in other areas of the team as well. But it is disappointing to note that the performances have not been what we expected” he said.
Hearts signed Black Meteors central defender David Oppong Afranie from King Faisal, Kelvin Osei Asibey from Techiman Eleven Wonders, and Kofi Agbesimah from Bechem United. Right back Michael Ampadu joined as a free agent, while others like Martin Karikari and Evans Adomako joined from lower tier side Asekem FC.
These signings, according to Togbui, will soon contribute to the club’s success.
”We are however confident that the investments we have made will start delivering in no time. We have absolute faith in the technical team that the performances and the results will improve.” he concluded.
