Close relative of Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, Samuel Atta Kyea has advised his kinsman to quit and have peace.

The call by Atta Kyea comes months after a group of disgruntled lawmakers on the majority bench called for the sack or resignation of the Minister.

The rebel Majority MPs have been pushing for the removal of Mr Ofori-Atta from office for what they said were his incompetence and conflict of interest.

The MPs threatened to boycott the budget presentation but backed down on their demand after meeting the leadership of the governing NPP.

Spokesperson for the aggrieved group, Andy Appiah-Kubi, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akim North Constituency in the Ashanti Region on February 8 2023 said that they expected the president to remove the minister after the appropriations on the budget have been approved.

Reflect, resign and have peace

In an interview on Citi TV Face to Face on Tuesday, January 16, the Chairman of the IGP leak Tape Committee, Atta Kyea advised Ken Ofori-Atta to leave the scene to save himself.

Atta Kyea and the Ken Ofori-Atta are from the same family hailing from Akyem Abuakwa.

He said the pressure and controversy over the Minister is a huge burden.

“For me, what is very frightening is the fact that you have a whole army of people saying look you’ve had enough…I think that that could be a way for him to relax. Look at all the burdens on one man. So it is his individual decision to make as to whether he should  go or he should continue.” he said.

“He(Ofori-Atta) should look at himself and look at all the troubles that everybody believes that I mean when he is not there then the nation will have peace, if that is what is the thinking of the people, I will advise myself.” He said.

“He should save himself and save the government and have his peace because he needs it, a man cannot be troubled in the manner in which he has been troubled,” Mr Atta Akyea added.
