A total of three lives were lost in the Ashanti region alone over the weekend in two separate road accidents.
The first accident occurred in Drobonso in the Sekyere Afram Plains district involving a motorbike and a tricycle. According to eye witnesses who spoke with CitizenOne, the tricycle was returning from the farm full of farmers. Close to a sharp curved on the Drobonso-Kumawu road was a rider who was riding on top speed. The two vehicles crashed head-on leading to the instant demise of the motor rider. Some of the passengers in the tricycle including a pregnant woman sustained severe inquiries and were sent to the hospital for treatment.
The second accident occurred at Fumesua in the Ejisu Municipality. This accident involved a private vehicle which was transporting mourners to Mampong. Approaching Fumesua, the vehicle burst tyre and the driver lost control. It veered off the road and crashed into a nearby tree. Two passengers including the driver reportedly died instantly. The rest sustained various degrees of injuries and were sent to Ejisu Government Hospital for treatment. One of the victims was however transferred to KATH due to the severity of his injuries.
In all three people died over the weekend in Asahnti region due to road crashes. May their souls rest in peace.
