The National President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), the professional association for all lawyers in Ghana, Yaw Acheampong Boafo has admonished all members of the GBA in public life and politics to be of the best conduct so as to serve as the best examples for others to emulate. He urged lawyers to endeavour at all times to set the standards in public life and politics.

Mr Boafo, who launched the appeal to his members in his New Year Message to Ghanaians on January 1, 2024, reminded all and sundry to work to ensure that the peace and stability in the country is preserved even as the country readies itself for the 2024 General Elections.

“We will urge members of GBA in public life and politics to set the standards at all times. There’s only one Ghana Company limited, and we are all stakeholders,” he said.

He also pledged that the GBA will continue to work closely with the Judiciary to ensure the smooth administration of justice and access to justice by all Ghanaians, praying the political class to carry out their electoral campaigns devoid of incendiary language.

“We will continue our cooperation with the judiciary, and our Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Araba Torkonoo, to ensure access to justice reforms for all Ghanaians and the smooth administration of justice…It’s my fervent hope that the campaign and the elections will be conducted with a high level of decorum so that we will have the moral authority to speak truth to our politicians,” he asserted.

Ghana will go to the polls on December 7, 2024, to elect a President and 276 Members of Parliament (MPs). The National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the dominant political parties, are already all geared up for the elections.
