Online court records show that on Friday, a Muskegon County jury found Vander Ark guilty of both murder and child abuse.
At the sentencing hearing in January, she is expected to get a mandatory life sentence.
Meet Timothy Ferguson
According to WZZM, which quoted law enforcement, Shanda Vander Ark, 44, was accused of torturing her 15-year-old son Timothy Ferguson, who passed away in July 2022 at the weight of just 69 pounds and exhibiting symptoms of cold and malnourishment.
The youngster had difficulties, according to the authorities, and the cause of death was determined to be homicide.
