Reports in sections of the media indicate that the Chief Executive Officer of The National Entrepreneurship & Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah has been arrested by the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
According to the reports, Kofi Ofosu Nkansah was arrested on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, by the Office of the Special Prosecutor after his competitor in the Asante Akyem Central Constituency, Kwame Ayimadu, alleged that he was sharing some money to delegates.
The Asante Akyem Constituency Secretary, Felix Amakye, who disclosed his arrest to the media, said the Member of Parliament became envious after Kofi Ofosu Nkansah shared Ghc500 to delegates as their Christmas gifts, while the sitting MP shared Ghc300 each.
“What is happening is clearly signs of envy and jealousy. The MP offered 300 Cedis to the delegates and his competitor who knows the challenges of his people decided to assist us with 500 Cedis each, why do you turn around to report him to the OSP when there is no evidence of wrongdoing?” Mr. Amakye lamented.
He accused the office of the Special Prosecutor of interference in political activities.
“This is pure interference and intimidation by the OSP. This is our internal politics, and it is shameful for anyone to seek to use a state agency to frustrate his competitor, who is clearly the favourite of the people of Asante Akyem Central.
